Cost Effective 8-Bit Microcontroller
|
|
Freescale is pleased to announce the launch of the extremely cost effective QD family-the 9S08QD4 and 9S08QD2 devices - the lowest end members in the 8-bit S08 microcontroller family and an expansion to the popular Q Family. |
With a four channel 10-bit ADC, two timers, up to
32 interrupt sources, 4K Flash (QD4) or 2K Flash
(QD2) and 5V operational voltage, the 9S08QD
family is a perfect fit for a wide variety of small
appliances such as DC fan applications (PCs and
HVAC systems), microwave ovens and ignition
control systems.
The 9S08QD devices are pin and software compatible
with RS08KA2 and S08QG8 8-bit microcontrollers,
offering greater design flexibility within
Freescale’s low end portfolio. These device are
available in 8-pin SOIC and plastic DIP packages
in both industrial (-40º to + 85ºC) and extended
temperature (- 40º to + 105ºC) ranges.
Evaluation Tools
DEMO9S08QD4 is a demonstration board for
the MC9S08QD4 8-bit microcontroller.
Application development is quick and easy with
the integrated programmer/debugger tools
(USB-BDM) and software (CodeWarrior™)
included. A 32-pin connector allows connecting
the DEMO9S08QD4 board to an expanded
evaluation environment.
The 8-bit MC9S08QD4 (QD4) microcontroller expands the low end capabilities of Freescale’s Controller Continuum. It offers enhanced functionality and flexibility while maintaining pin compatibility with the ultra low end KA2 family based on RS08 core technology and the highly integrated QG8 family of S08 controllers.
The QD4 incorporates a high performance 4 channel, 10-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), which makes it an ideal solution for DC cooling fans in computer applications, low power supplies and telecommunications equipment.
The QD4 is the S08 controller at the lowest end of the Freescale portfolio, but still offers more flash memory and RAM than other 8-bit microcontrollers in the same price range. It boasts two 16-bit on-chip timers, one 2 channel timer and another 1 channel timer. Each channel can be used for input capture, output compare; buffered edge aligned pulse width modulator (PWM) or buffered center-aligned PWM.
