Agilent’s new series of handheld instruments bring new performance and flexibility to the handheld world.

As electronic circuitry continues to become more prevalent in today’s systems, machines and equipment, engineers, technicians and electricians in various industries are faced with added complexity and challenges brought on by these new technologies.

Commissioning, troubleshooting and maintaining systems, machines and various electrical, electromechanical and electronic equipment are no longer straightforward but require the proper diagnostic tools that provide precise and consistent data. This equation is compounded even further by the added requirement of adopting portability into everyday work.

This has resulted in the need for portable test instruments that bridge the gap with benchtop instrument performance without sacrificing mobility and safety. Agilent has risen to this challenge by providing high performance and high quality handheld instruments.

“Having received constant feedback from customers on the performance and quality requirements for entry level test and measurement instruments, we are expanding our solutions in the low cost market,” says Ee Huei Sin, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Basic Instruments Division. “The new handheld digital multimeters and handheld oscilloscopes are designed to meet or exceed customers’ needs for portable test solutions.” These products are part of Agilent’s long term plan to provide a broader range of low cost solutions to the market that are primarily available through distribution channels worldwide.

A portable test tool user requires the assurance that his tool will do its job in various environments and will have enough safety features. Both these Agilent instruments come in robust shock absorbing packages, wide operating temperature ranges and independent test lab accreditation for CAT III Safety Compliance.

Agilent’s U1250A series of handheld digital multimeters offer technical professionals in various industries, high performance, versatile and durable instruments. These instruments come with features that enhance the capabilities of engineers, technicians and electricians in the electronic test market and industrial market.

U1251A

Industrial Market Applications (U1250A Series)

Features Applications and Benefits
AC, DC and AC+DC True RMS capability, Pulse Width and Duty Cycle Measurements Allow accurate troubleshooting of circuits involving non-linear loads such as in variable frequency drives. Reading errors of up to 40% lower than the actual value could be generated when measuring single phase and three phase diode rectifiers if an average responding RMS meter is used
4-20mA loop measurement with
% readout
Enables loop current measurements in industrial process control instruments. Analog 4-20 mA current loops are commonly used for analog signaling, with 4 mA representing the lowest end of the range and 20 mA the highest
J and K type thermocouples for temperature measurements and built in temperature sensor Enable temperature measurements of heating, ventilation and process instrumentation without the need of a separate thermometer and detects ambient/environment temperature without the need of thermocouples
100 manual, 200 interval data logging memory points. Optional PC connectivity Provide electricians and plant technicians the ability to log and capture data over time which help detect and prevent intermittent problems that can cause facility down time
100 manual, 200 interval data logging memory points. Optional PC connectivity provides unlimited data logging points Provide electricians and plant technicians the ability to log and capture data over time which help detect and prevent intermittent problems that can cause facility down time
