High Performance, Low Power MPC8313E Powers Everyday Applications
|
|
Many segments of the industry are moving toward more feature rich, highly integrated processors that consume less power. With this in mind, Freescale created the MPC8313E Power-QUICC™ integrated communications processor to meet performance, power and security needs for digital media servers, consumer network attached storage, office, media, financial and industrial applications. Based on mature Power Architecture™ technology, this processor offers designers easy scalability, many features integrated on-chip and the possibility of significant software reuse across product families. This can speed up development and reduce product sustaining costs. |
Satisfying Ever Changing, Multiple Market Needs...
While different markets require different product
solutions, the same key processor attributes often
apply across consumer, commercial and industrial
applications. So it only makes sense that a company
like Freescale, known for its design and integration
capabilities, should produce the MPC8313E
PowerQUICC™ processor, to integrate hardware
for Ethernet and serial communications, memory
interfaces, USB ports, security and other popular
inputs and outputs in a ubiquitous architecture to
serve several markets equally well.
The MPC8313E serves end users with high performance,
security and integrated software, providing
reliability and ease of use. Designers benefit from
its legacy SoC, lower pin count and high speed peripherals
like SGMII and DDRII. Freescale also offers
designers a cost effective evaluation board and
drivers for the MPC8313E as well as CodeWarrior®
development tools that will help speed a design to
market.

Enhancing the Office and Industrial Markets with Sensible Standards...
By complying with Advanced Configuration and
Power Interface (ACPI) standards, which define
common interfaces for hardware recognition, device
configuration and power management, the
MPC8313E brings fast, secure hardcopy printing
to offices of all sizes. These standards also help
to ensure that processors achieve an extremely
low power consumption state. For example, the
MPC8313E consumes less than 300mW on standby
power and is optimized to “sleep”
until tapped by another device to
wake up and get to work, thereby
saving power.
For extremely precise clock
synchronization for applications
such as time sensitive
telecommunications services, industrial network
switches, powerline networks and test and
measurement devices, the MPC8313E features
integrated IEEE1588 time synchronization,
the leading edge standard. Freescale has partnered
with IXXAT to deliver IEEE1588 support.
Making the Digital Home Experience Easier,
Richer and Safer...
The rapid growth of personal and premium content
in and around the home creates the need for
multi-service residential gateways, digital media
servers and network attached storage inside the
home that can handle feature rich applications in a
secure environment.
Until recently, consumer based, network attached
storage simply meant storing and sharing data
files, but today’s consumer requires storing and
backing up personal MPEG and JPEG content as
well.
In some regions, the need to stream HD content
throughout the home via IP
- secure, encrypted content
- is already in demand, and
that demand will soon be
felt globally. The MPC8313E
provides the ability to stream
four encrypted HD streams,
so multiple TVs can be
served simultaneously and
seamlessly.
As consumers download and
play music, compete in online
games and create and share
photos and videos, they appreciate
more and more
that their home equipment
provides a secure, powerful
and seamless experience.
The MPC8313E integrates
software that complies with
the Digital Living Network Alliance
(DLNA) standards. Compliance with these
standards means that consumers can easily manage,
view, print and share digital content across
multiple devices within the home.
Freescale has partnered with several leading software
vendors to provide quick time-to-market designs
for Residential Gateways (Kenati), Digital
Media Servers (Mediabolic) and Consumer NAS
(Axentra) solutions. The MPC8313E-RDB can be
utilized as a reference tool to bring up any of these
designs efficiently.
