Telecom/Signal Relays: Ultra High Sensitive 50mW IM Relay

Low power consumption and small size are contradictory requirements.

Tyco Electronics announces an ultra high sensitive 4th generation telecom/signal relay with a power consumption of only 50mW, which uniquely combines minimum power consumption with an extremely small size of 10 x 6 x 5.65mm. This new design is really breaking the limits.

The ultra high sensitive 50mW IM relay is available in both THT and SMT. The gull wing version has coil voltages of 3, 4.5, 5, 9 and 12V. Compared with the current industry standard, the IM 50mW offers approximately 3 times higher sensitivity, which reduces the power consumption and self heating of the coil and relay significantly.

Although the power consumption has been decreased, the package is identical with the standard IM relay, which allows customers to use the high sensitive version without respinning the PCB.

The ultra high sensitive IM relay is currently the smallest dual pole telecom/signal relay available on the market, while still meeting all international requirements such as Telcordia GR 1089 and IEC 60950 and at the same time offering the lowest possible power consumption of 50mW.

RF Relays: HF6 - 6GHz Ultra Miniature RF Relay

See it First - Buy it First

With the frequency of signal transmission and the data rate of digital signals continuously increasing, Tyco Electronics has announced an extremely small size, high performing 6GHz electromechanical high frequency relay.

After the HF3 relay, which has been available on the market for two years, the HF6 relay is a pin and pad compatible relay which offers a frequency range up to 6GHz and allows engineers to design scalable PCBs.

The HF6 relay combines a very small size of 15 x 7.5 x 11mm with excellent RF characteristics. It is a single pole change over (SPDT) type relay with an isolation of almost 40dB at 6GHz, an insertion loss of less than 1.2 at 6GHz and a VSWR of 1.3. The HF6 relay is currently by far the smallest and best performing RF relay available on the market.

Another significant advantage is the full SMD capability which allows a perfect integration in RF systems.

From the driving side, the HF6 relay is currently the most sensitive electromechanical relay on the market, with 140mW of power consumption and a single coil latching type with 70mW. There is a dual coil latching version which is also 140mW. Latching characteristics allow the use of the HF series relays to operate as RF switches too.

FEATURES
  • Remote powered applications in order to reduce voltage drop along the line
  • In high temperature ambient, as the self heating of the coil is approx. 7°C
  • Many relays are activated at the same time in order to reduce the size of the power supply
  • When monostable relays must be used they provide secure fail save function
APPLICATIONS
  • Wireless infrastructure
  • Filter switching
  • Duplex switching
  • Antenna switching
  • Amplifiers
  • Automated test equipment for semiconductor testing
  • High speed routers
