The AME7739 is a charge pump voltage converter that delivers a regulated output. No external inductors are needed for the application. Three small capacitors are required and are sufficient for the AME7739 to deliver up to 60mA to the regulated voltage output. Very low output ripple connected with the high efficiency over a broad range of its load range are the features which are ideal for battery operated applications. However, to minimize the input and output ripple currents, the external capacitors should be located as close as possible to the device using short and direct circuit traces.

Due to the minimum count of external components and the small package size, the DC/DC converter area of the PC board is small. This makes space restricted designs very easy. The IC contains a thermal management circuit to protect the device under continuous output short circuit conditions.

The AME 7739 can be placed into an energy saving shutdown mode by using the EN pin on the device. In this mode the output is disconnected from the input and the input quiescent current is reduced to 1µA max.

Using an automatic mode switching in the device allows regulated output voltages from less than the output voltage to greater than the input voltage.

Efficiency varies with the out voltage versions of the device.

5.5V, 5V Version (V_IN ≤ V_OUT): Efficiency (%) = V_OUT/2 V_IN x 100%

Other versions (V_IN > V_OUT): Efficiency (%) = V_OUT/V_IN x 100%
