High performance, low-power and full-function peripherals in an integrated solution to ease design of low cost wireless networks.

Freescale Semiconductor is pleased to announce the launch of the MC1322x Family of Platform in Package or PiP™ solutions. As a founding member of the IEEE 802.15.4® standards body and ZigBee® Alliance, Freescale Semiconductor continues to invest in its IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee product portfolio with this newest generation of low cost, high performance wireless product. A fully functional 32-bit TDMI ARM7 processor and 128K of Flash memory provides the highest level of integration and performance in combination with the largest memory footprint in the market today. Top that off with the flexibility of multiple operating modes and get a low power solution to beat the best.

The highly integrated MC1322x family hardware solution is supported by Freescale’s BeeKit™ software development environment along with the SMAC, IEEE 802.15.4 MAC and licensable BeeStack™ protocol stacks. The IAR EWARM integrated development environment is used for application software development and debug.

Wireless Networking Market Segments

BeeKit™ Overview

BeeKit™ defined:

  • Comprehensive code base of wireless networking libraries, application templates, and sample applications
  • Graphical user interface (GUI) for the creation, modification and updating of wireless networking implementations
  • Automated validation of configuration parameters
  • Generation of workspace files to be imported into an integrated development environment (IDE) for continued development and debugging through xml
  • Easily scalable to support new code bases and functionality
  • Provides a development environment were wireless link and protocol configurations can be managed in a straightforward, uncomplicated approach.
  • Complementary tool to traditional IDEs. Not just a tool for generation of static starter code, but rather an extension to embedded application environments.
  • Supports Simple MAC (SMAC), IEEE® 802.15.4 MAC, and ZigBee™ (BeeStack™) application development
  • Freescale ZigBee Stack (BeeStack™) interface reuses Freescale’s 802.15.4 MAC messaging interface for a common user experience. Experience gained with one helps understand the other.
  • Applications are decoupled from the stack implementation. Allows for easy code updates and promotes code reuse.
  • Allows for simple integration of other Freescale architectures when ZigBee Platform software has been ported (SMAC, IEEE 802.15.4 MAC, BeeStack)

The MC1322x family, as all Freescale Wireless Connectivity Operation (WCO) solutions, is supported by the widely received and acclaimed BeeKit

BeeKit™ Development Flow

  • Start BeeKit
  • Create project
  • Customize and validate project
  • Export project
  • Import into IAR EWARM

BeeKit™

The BeeKit is a complimentary development tool to the IAR EWARM microcontroller development software. BeeKit reduces cycle time and eases the set up of the device and networking protocols in a way not previously offered by any other wireless personal area network (WPAN) solutions provider. The BeeKit libraries or Code Bases, as well as many other unique system features, are the foundation for fast track software development. The BeeKit project file is created in XML. BeeKit will allow export of files to IAR EWARM. BeeKit also allows importing of XML files to modify the wireless network parameters or Freescale ZigBee technology device selection so designers may move back and forth between BeeKit and IAR EWARM. BeeKit also flags parameter conflicts so that designers may update the design files based on the messages provided.
