Progressive miniaturization and increasing functionality are making modern consumer electronics products and computer equipment not only more compact and complex, but also more vulnerable to voltage fluctuations. The high number of inputs and outputs increases the probability of failure caused by ESD (electrostatic discharge). That calls for adequate protection.

CeraDiodes® take up only a third of the space required by TVS diodes, have shorter response times and can handle higher peak currents. For audio and video applications in particular, they have been developed with defined capacitances. Some CeraDiodes® thus act as filters as well, so that separate RC networks can be dispensed with. For high speed data lines, variants with extremely low capacitance have been developed which do not impair signal strength at high bit rates either.
