Port Multiplier Enhances Security in Video Surveillance Applications
The XRS10L140 IC provides the advantages
of the SATA II Port Multiplier implementation
at 3/1.5Gbps. It supports up to 4 SATA drives
utilizing the full bandwidth of the host
connection.
The port multiplier function is used when one
active host has to communicate with multiple
SATA devices. The XRS10L140 can be used in
any high density storage system, for example
in a video surveillance application with a 2-port
SATA host controller and 2 XRS10L140 ICs + 8
SATA targets. Figure 1 shows its use in a video
surveillance application.
