With ESD and miniaturization becoming a growing
issues within the industry, AVX has recently introduced a smaller multilayer varistor designed
to provide protection to sensitive circuits
from overvoltage conditions. The sub 1pF
surface mount MLV is available in a low profile 0402 chip size with 0.8pF capacitance and is
designed to minimize signal distortion and
maximize signal speed for sensitive circuits.
The sub 1pF varistor offers designers the ability to clamp transients with minimal loading and distortion to the circuit. In addition to the minimized capacitance,
they have low leakage which allows them to be used in low distortion analog circuits.
