The AS5304 and AS5306 linear magnetic encoder ICs are ideally suited for harsh environments containing dust and dirtcontaminates that can easily degrade the performance and reliability of traditional optical encoder sensor solutions. These devices can be used in a variety of motion sensing applications in medical, industrial and consumer markets.

The new line of linear magnetic encoders is an easy to use, plug & play solution for most linear and off-axis rotary sensing applications. The A/B quadrature and index pulse signals allow user to easily track the absolute position once referenced from a known starting position at power up.

 

FEATURES
  • AS5304 and AS5306 ICs can achieve resolutions of 25µm and 15µm, respectively
  • Depending on the magnet form used, the devices can operate either as linear or off-axis rotary motion sensors
  • Require no user programming or register configuration at start up
  • Immediately operational when the power supply is applied
  • Provide optical encoder compatible A/B quadrature outputs, with 160 steps per magnet pole pair resolution
  • Available in a 20-lead 5x5mm TSSOP device
  • Operate at 5V over a temperature range of -40ºC to +125ºC

  • 4.5V to 5.5V operating voltage
  • Magnetic field strength indicator, magnetic field alarm for end-of-strip or missing magnet

  • Magnetic pole pair length: 2.4mm
  • Resolution: 15µm
  • 40 pulses / 160 positions per magnetic period
  • 1 index pulse per pole pair
  • Linear movement measurement using multi-pole magnetic strips
  • Circular off-axis movement measurement using multi-pole magnetic rings
  • 4.5V to 5.5V operating voltage
  • Magnetic field strength indicator, magnetic field alarm for end-of-strip or missing magnet
