New Siliconix SQ Series Power MOSFETs for Automotive Applications

Vishay is expanding its power MOSFET portfolio to include a new family of devices optimized for automotive applications. Easily recognized by the prefix SQ in the part number, the new Vishay Siliconix SQ Series devices utilize improved silicon and packaging technologies to increase their electrical and mechanical stress capabilities in automotive systems. All power MOSFETs in the SQ Series are:

• AEC-Q101 qualified
• Built on a manufacturing process using state-of-the-art maverick lot controls at wafer test and final test
• 100% avalanche/UIS stress screened
• 100% gate stress screened

 

 

All Vishay Siliconix SQ Series power MOSFET processes are continually improved to reduce manufacturing defects.

The SQ Series automotive portfolio includes industry’s first AEC-Q101 qualified TrenchFET® power MOSFETs with a 175°C junction temperature rating in the 3.3mm x 3.3mm PowerPAK® package. Two 60V devices are now available, the N-channel SQ7414EN, with on-resistance of 25 milliohms at a 10V gate drive and the P-channel SQ7415EN, with an on-resistance rating of 65 milliohms.

 

 

With their 3.3mm x 3.3mm footprint and height profile of 1.07mm, these are the smallest power MOSFETs on the market capable of handling power applications in the automotive environment and the first such devices to be offered in the PowerPAK 1212-8.

 

Rated for a junction-to-case thermal resistance of 2.4°C/W, the SQ7414EN and SQ7415EN can in many cases replace power MOSFETs in the less thermally efficient standard SO-8, enabling significant board space savings. These AEC-Q101- qualified MOSFETs address all automotive applications requiring 175°C-rated devices, including engine controllers, transmission controllers and motor drives.
